Bio

I have been teaching for twenty-four years. I started teaching as a peer tutor at the young age of 16 in the state of Louisiana. God has blessed me to teach in states like California, Washington D.C., Louisiana, and Texas. My current position is in Houston, TX as a middle school ESL teacher in HISD. I have been teaching for twenty-four years. I started teaching as a peer tutor at the young age of 16 in the state of Louisiana. God has blessed me to teach in states like California, Washington D.C., Louisiana, and Texas. My current position is in Houston, TX as a middle school ESL teacher in HISD. I will also be the Robotics Coach for the 2020-2021 school year. I am a certified teacher in the states of Texas, Louisiana, and Internationally. My certifications covers a variety of grades and specialties in ESL, PreAP, and Gifted and Talented. My education includes a B.A. in History. I also attended graduate school for Library Science and Information Technology. Currently, I am in graduate school to received a Master's in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) I will graduate in the Fall of 2020.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching and tutoring because making a difference is important to me. I enjoy giving back to my community and my students. When children learn, I learn. Educating the future is a personal goal of mine. Creating life long learners is a great thing, and it feels my heart with joy!

I have been speaking French since I was two years old. Growing up in Louisiana, French is spoken by many. I have taken French classes in high school and in college. My husband and I speak French at home because he also grew up speaking French. I love French because it is part of my heritage. I am certified in clarinet as well. I have been playing the clarinet since I was about two. I currently read both Treble and Bass Clef.

I am a STAAR qualified teacher because I have been teaching in Texas for 16 years. Every year, I prepare students to pass the STAAR. My STAAR passing rate has always been between 85 to 94 percent.

I have been playing the clarinet since I was two years old. As an educator, I tutor my students in reading music and learning to play the clarinet daily. I thoroughly enjoy playing the clarinet, and music is a huge part of my heritage. Being a Louisianian, we are exposed to music at an early age, so it is a joy of mine.

I am currently a Texas certified teacher in grades 4 to 8. I have also taken many classes in college geared towards grades K-6. In my teaching career, I have taught grades 3rd through 6 for over five years. I am well aware of the skills and curriculum of Elementary education. This education has allowed me to learn the complexities of the English language and cognates of other languages. Phonology is the heartbeat of Phonics. I strongly believe that I am highly qualified to teach this subject.

My immense knowledge in Social Studies will be an asset to all students.

I am currently a certified Texas State Teacher. I have been teaching in the state of Texas for 12 years. Every year, I prepare my students to take the state standardize test. For the past four years, I have had experienced with STAAR Testing. I have to pass a test to disseminate the STAAR Test to my students, so I strongly believe that I am qualified to tutor students on STAAR skills.

My qualifications as a TOEFL tutor include over 1,000 hours working with students reach their educational goals. I am currently a mobile teacher, and I have 1 TOEFL student that I see twice a week.

The best tutor I've ever met

Kayla is a genuine person who worked with me on a personal and academic level. First of all she is a teacher that worked with so many students before and she knows how to deliver information in a way that is simple and understandable. She helped me with history. I had trouble with my professors' difficult twisty questions on the quiz and after her tips I was able to answer them correctly on my own. She is super kind and funny. I highly recommend her.

She has a true passion for children. Very patient and creative with learning ideas. My daughter has a mild case of dyslexia, disfluency. I like how she involved me in the plan of success for my daughter. Definitely satisfied with choosing her over the other tutors who had loads of scholar credits but no true passion for the children. Makes a difference for a child like mine.
