As a PhD in medieval philosophy and an experienced tutor with 7+ years of tutoring experience and 6+ years of full-time classroom teaching experience (middle school through college, mostly in college), I enjoy working with all grade levels across a variety of disciplines. My interests range from math, English writing and grammar, and languages (basic French and early-advanced Latin) to standardized test prep (SAT/ACT/GRE), philosophy, theology, to piano. Working alongside students who struggle with learning disabilities, as well as those who are academically advanced, I always find great joy in encouraging academic independence and personal confidence of students. I have also ran a private piano studio for 3 years, and my lessons focus on developing a strong technique (relaxing tension and using arm weight rather than force) with a classical repertoire along with learning the basics of theory. I enjoy cooking, kickboxing, and reading (some favorites are Tolstoy and Tolkien).
