I have 35 years of experience as a pianist and Singer, and professional experience as a music director for several local churches. I have 20 plus years of teaching experience in this field.

My teaching style fits students of all levels and ages. I like to make sure the student understands the lesson that I am teaching and allow the student to be creative while learning. While teaching, I create an environment for learning by providing scenarios that could allow the student to solve a musical problem on their own. For example, I would compose a music piece on manuscript paper and challenge the student find the written error. It might be an incorrect time signature, key signature, missing rest, etc.

As musicians, we are used to depending on our ears to hear what is going on in a piece of music. But many times when studying music theory, we need to depend on our eyes instead, on our ability to “see” what is going on “on the page.” This skill of seeing is often underdeveloped, since it is often easier to let our ears do the work. I help students to understand how important it is to know music theory and how to apply it.

By improving our ability to observe and understand what is on the page, we can greatly improve our skills in music theory and analysis. Once the visual understanding and aural skills are more closely matched, music theory does not usually seem so intimidating and frustrating.

When working on music theory homework, listening to a lecture in a music classroom, or taking a test on theory or and analysis, you may not be able to go to a piano to play a passage so that your ears can assist you.

And, for adults, I use the Alfred Piano Course curriculum. I provide supplemental material to reinforce what we are currently working on at the moment. Great teacher and tutur

My son has been studying piano with Tramane now for almost a year. My son has by far exceeded my expectations. Tramane is very patient and works very well with my soon. He keeps my son's attention and teaches in a way that is easy for my son to understand and retain the information. He is also very affordable. I would highly recommend him! I may even take up lessons myself:)
