Hello! I'm Scott, an American English teacher from Houston, Texas.

I have a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics with a minor in Technical Communication and have more than nine years of experience helping students and professionals communicate clearly because "clear is kind and unclear is unkind."

Before teaching English online, I worked as a technical writer and process documentation specialist for large organizations in the energy, utility, and technology industries. I participated in meetings with engineers, software developers, project managers, business analysts, and other professionals from around the world. That experience helps me prepare students for academic success and helps professionals communicate more effectively in English—not just in the classroom, but in meetings, presentations, interviews, and the workplace.

I can help you improve your academic and business English, conversation skills, interview preparation, presentations (including PowerPoint), technical English for meetings and video calls, essay, email, and report writing, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.

I believe in focusing on small victories. So, rather than trying to master the whole English universe, I focus on helping students understand how one star connects to the other stars, so to speak, how and why a verb like "go" connects to an adverbial phrase like "to the store," for example, or how one sentence connects to another with a semi-colon, a conjunction like "but," or a transition word like 'however."

Whether you're a high school or college student preparing for academic success, a professional advancing your career, or someone who wants to speak English more naturally and confidently, I'll tailor each lesson to help you achieve your goals.
