I have 30 years of experience teaching Financial and Management Accounting at HCC. Plus, I have many years of hands-on experience in accounting in the private industry. I have the ability to break down each chapter's content and make it easy to understand. If you don't have the basics completely understood, you will not do well in this subject.

I can also help students who are studying managerial economics and are having trouble with the math such as understanding the slope of a line, understanding the graphic of the x and y coordinates, finding the break even points in units and dollars, and understanding the difference between full absorption and variable costing methods.

I consider tutoring a job; thus I expect the student to keep the appointment time. If a student doesn't show up at the appointment or cancels an appointment I reserve the right to charge you an hour's worth of time. My objective is to make you a better student of accountancy and a better user of QuickBooks. You will get my undivided attention.

I have been tutoring in accounting for WyzAnt for the past 18 months or so and I have created and maintained a very good reputation. So much of the business world has to do with accounting that I would appreciate a look at what a customer who submits the word "business" has a problem with. Could it be an accounting related problem? If so I would be happy to tutor that person. Sometimes students can not or are not specific in their needs which leaves a gray area for tutors. If I can't help them then I will advise them as to where I think their weakness is and suggest they take a different approach. I can be helpful to them in writing papers, Excel, and other peripheral areas.

Once you learn them you just have to learn the vocabulary of the subject and how to think like an accountant. Once you get through the first 4 or 5 chapters the rest of Financial Accounting textbook is a dissection of the Income Statement and Balance Sheet. The Managerial Accounting textbook is packed full of everyday business knowledge. It is NOT neurosurgery.

QuickBooks

QuickBooks

I have worked with QuickBooks for the past 5 years with experience in the Enterprise level down to the Online service. I'm completely comfortable with this software because I am very competent with accounting. I am comfortable running an organization's books on either the Cash or Accrual method, even though I prefer the Accrual method. I believe that QuickBooks users should use the Vendor and Client/Customer files in order to capture historical info on those accounts. Chart of Account structure is very important and should not be an after-thought; the better planning on the COA the better off you will be. QuickBooks offers a good variety of options and users should use them to their benefit. If you need your QuickBooks to run correctly and efficiently and I can help you achieve those goals. I am not afraid to tutor your staff so that either all or part of the work can be done in-house so you can keep your costs low.

I believe everyone should be able to understand the steps necessary to do your own tax return. I have been preparing mine and some friend's tax return for several years. This is an interesting way to understand how the tax system works. You do your own tax return under my assistance and you are able to do the next year's by yourself.
