With over twenty years of experience tutoring AP and other levels of World, American, European, Art History and French, I have helped my students achieve academic success and score well on exams. With over twenty years of experience tutoring AP and other levels of World, American, European, Art History and French, I have helped my students achieve academic success and score well on exams. I teach students to study more efficiently and become confident in their abilities. Being passionate about my work, I strive to make every session interesting as well as memorable. After initially speaking with a parent or guardian about their student's specific challenges, I adapt my tutoring accordingly. After working with me, students finish their courses with at least one letter grade higher. I plan for each tutoring session in advance, and I provide materials to enhance a student's understanding of the material. In addition, I am available for quick questions by telephone, text and email outside of our meetings at no charge.

For students who need to improve their writing skills, comprehension of literature, and/or grammar, I assess their skills and proceed methodically to teach each student accordingly to their level. Although I love to read, I understand many students do not share this passion. If a student needs help understanding a novel, play or other work of literature, I have extensive experience in this area also.

I graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. I empathize with my students' challenges. I try to structure each tutoring session in such a way that the student can learn the material at his or her own pace and feel free to ask questions along the way.

Having studied and worked in France, I can teach any level of French. I have an appreciation of the difficulties one faces in learning a foreign language, so I am very patient and encouraging. I help students through the challenges of French grammar, and teach them strategies for learning vocabulary. Why do I tutor? I prefer working one-on-one because it helps a student stay focused on the lesson and gives them the opportunity to have their specific questions and/or difficulties addressed with patience and empathy.

American History

American History

I have taught hundreds of AP and other US History students over the years. In addition to having received a Minor in American History from the College of William and Mary, I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring the AP US History curriculum and preparing students for the AP Exam. AP US History requires critical historical thinking skills, the ability to analyze primary and secondary sources, and advanced writing skills. In order to do well on this exam, one must write organized essays (DBQs, LEQs, SAQs) that follow a specific AP rubric. Not only do I help my students develop these skills, but I also teach them how to read closely and annotate their textbooks. As a result, my students perform better on quizzes and tests throughout the year.
Art History

Art History

Learning Art History can be daunting, so if you need help, I am a very patient tutor. I have a Master's Degree in Art History and experience teaching AP Art History. I help my students understand the basic principles of Art History and become familiar with the various artists and styles of Western and Non-Western works of art from Pre-History to the present. Additionally, I develop their skills in formal, contextual, and stylistic analysis of works of art. I help them improve their writing as well.

My qualifications include peer tutoring when I was a student at the College of William and Mary in Virginia. I continued to help my fellow students with their English assignments while I pursued my graduate studies in Art History at The University of Texas. UT gave me a Fellowship to fund my Master’s Degree. After I graduated and worked in the New York art world for many years, I returned to Texas and began tutoring English, History, Art History, and French. My students always improve their grades as a result of our tutoring sessions, and I am delighted to have helped.
European History

European History

I have over 15 years of experience tutoring AP European History. I prepare students for the rigors of this college-level course and use the approved AP Curriculum to guarantee that they will do well on the exam in May. I teach analysis of primary and secondary documents, how to approach source-based multiple choice questions, and how to answer Short Answer Questions (SAQs), Long Essay Question (LEQ), and the Document-Based Question (DBQ).

I have studied and worked in France, so I am very knowledgeable about its language and culture. For over 10 years, I have tutored Middle, High School and College students in French. I am a very patient and effective tutor of language skills. Most of my students end their school year with a letter grade higher than when they started. I look forward to discussing your student's specific needs.

I have been tutoring High School and College students in Religion for several years. In addition to Theology, I have tutored World Religions and Comparative Religions. Moreover, I am a Catholic, and I attended Parochial schools through High School, so I am particularly knowledgeable about Roman Catholicism.

I have been an avid reader since I was three years old. In my spare time I enjoy working crossword puzzles, Words with Friends, and Scrabble. Years of research to complete my Masters degree have significantly expanded my vocabulary. My enthusiasm motivates my students to build their vocabulary with success.

I have been tutoring World History students at academically challenging schools for 15 years, so I have a great deal of experience with students and a very high success rate. In addition, to High School students (including those taking AP courses) and College students, I have worked with Middle School students taking Social Studies. Writing research papers can be a chore. With my help organizing your research in order to locate excellent sources, giving you assistance with writing, and editing your work, you will receive a very good grade. World History is one of my passions, so I make it as interesting as possible for each of my students and make sure that they are well-prepared for every quiz, test, and exam.

Outstanding tutor!

I have been looking for an Ap Art History Tutor for my daughter since this school year started. And I’m so happy that I found Kathy. She is so knowledgeable and patient. She always checks lesson requirements ahead of time and puts a lot of effort in preparing lessons, she gives guidance to projects and tests. Kathy is also very flexible and easy to work with. We live in west coast, to coordinate my daughter’s extracurricular activities, Kathy was willing to work with my daughter until midnight ET a couple of times. All the work got paid off, my daughter has a solid A. We couldn’t be happier! I already gave referrals to all my friends.
