I am a Texas-certified Music EC–12 educator with nearly a decade of teaching and music education experience. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management and transitioned into education in 2017, where I discovered a passion for helping students understand, experience, and enjoy music. Since then, I have taught general music in public-school settings, directed student choirs, and worked with students across a wide range of musical abilities. My experience includes ear training, rhythm, singing, music theory, listening skills, and overall musicianship.
My experience also extends beyond the traditional classroom. I have helped establish music programs at two schools, including a Head Start program in Houston in 2019 and an online learning program based in Washington, D.C. in 2021. I also developed a DJ curriculum that has been used with students through online programs in both Houston and Washington, D.C. These experiences have strengthened my ability to design engaging music instruction, adapt concepts for different learning environments, and make musical skills accessible to students with varying levels of experience.
My teaching approach is practical, encouraging, and individualized. I believe music is best learned by hearing, experiencing, and applying concepts rather than simply memorizing terminology. For ear training, I help learners develop pitch recognition, rhythmic accuracy, melodic listening, and the ability to recognize musical patterns. In general music, we can work on rhythm, notation, foundational theory, listening, and overall musical understanding. Although much of my classroom experience has been with elementary-aged students, I welcome both children and adult learners. Whether you are starting from the beginning or strengthening existing skills, I will meet you at your current level and help you build confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of music.
