Hello! My name is Jasmine Lopez, and I am a science tutor with a Master of Science in Animal Science from Texas A&M University–Kingsville, where I earned a 4.0 graduate GPA. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry. I have several years of experience tutoring, mentoring, and teaching college students, including serving as a graduate STEM tutor and mentor, PAAC tutor, Comparative Anatomy teaching assistant, and Anatomy and Physiology lab instructor. Throughout these roles, I have worked with approximately 400 students from a variety of academic backgrounds. My dedication to student success has been recognized with the PAAC Outstanding Tutor “Academic Weapon” Award and the PAAC Distinguished Service Award. I have also been invited to speak to incoming first-generation college students as a TRIO Alumni Speaker.
I specialize in Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Comparative Anatomy, Biochemistry, Immunology, Endocrinology, Reproductive Physiology, Animal Science, and related life sciences. My teaching style focuses on understanding rather than memorization. I break challenging concepts into manageable steps, use diagrams and real-world examples, and incorporate practice questions and active recall. I also adapt my approach to each student's learning style and encourage students to explain concepts back to me so I can identify gaps in understanding and build their confidence.
My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing the skills to become independent learners. Before beginning lessons, I am happy to discuss your course, goals, and areas of concern so we can develop an effective tutoring plan. Tutoring expectations and policies will be provided by email before lessons begin. If you are looking for help understanding a difficult science course, preparing for an exam, or strengthening your study skills, please contact me to learn more and schedule a lesson!
