I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education and have an Illinois Professional Teaching License in Elementary Education. I have gained hands-on experience planning and delivering instruction aligned with state standards. I have completed over 175 hours of observation and teaching across multiple grade levels, including kindergarten, first, third, and fifth. I also student-taught full-time in a fourth-grade classroom for a semester.
In addition to teaching in the classroom, I have worked with children in a variety of educational settings, including volunteer tutoring, Sunday school instruction, summer camps, and coaching track. Through these experiences, I have supported students ranging from early elementary through high school. I have worked one-on-one, in small group settings, and in whole-class settings. I understand that every student learns differently, and I enjoy creating fun and interactive ways to help students experience those "light bulb" moments when a concept finally clicks. Through classroom observations, teaching lessons, tutoring, and educational coursework, I have encountered many different learning styles and learned the importance of adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
My tutoring approach is patient, structured, and supportive. I aim to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as learners. I focus on breaking skills into clear, manageable steps and reinforcing foundational understanding before progressing to more complex concepts. I incorporate visuals, manipulatives, and real-world relatable connections to increase engagement and understanding. I use a gradual release model (I do, we do, you do). My goal is to help students not only improve in school but also develop independence and a positive mindset toward learning.
