I am an experienced educator and curriculum designer with over a decade of work in K–8 education, focusing on reading, writing, and foundational math skills. I have designed and taught full curricula for community learning programs, homeschooling families, and learning centers, creating lessons that are culturally relevant, engaging, and accessible for diverse learners. My background also includes extensive independent study and professional development in literacy instruction, math pedagogy, and project-based learning, as well as training in educational technology and cloud tools that support modern online learning environments.
Over the years, I have taught students ranging from early elementary through middle school in both one-on-one and small-group settings. Much of my teaching has taken place in community-based learning spaces and tutoring programs, where I work closely with students who may be behind or struggling. Being the co-founder of Whole Living Academy, a community-centered learning program, I've designed and lead holistic, project-based courses for children and families. I am very comfortable breaking concepts down into clear, manageable steps and using multiple explanations and examples until a student truly understands.
My approach is patient, strengths-based, and highly tailored to each learner’s needs.
In my tutoring sessions, I focus on building both skills and confidence. For reading and writing, I work on decoding, comprehension, vocabulary, sentence structure, and essay organization, always connecting assignments to topics students care about.
In math, I emphasize number sense, problem-solving, and understanding the “why” behind procedures so students can apply their learning to new situations. I regularly communicate with parents and caregivers about progress and next steps, and I design individualized practice activities to reinforce what we cover together.
My goal is always to help students feel seen, supported, and capable of more than they believed when we started.
