Student-Athlete Mentor: Fun, Energetic Tutoring for K-12

Hello! My name is Erin-Leigh, and I am currently a college student pursuing a degree in Engineering. Through my studies, I’ve developed a strong foundation in Mathematics, ranging from Algebra to Calculus, as well as the ability to break down complex problems into simple, manageable steps. One of the things I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students reach that “aha!” moment, when something that once felt confusing finally makes sense. I aim to make math feel approachable by guiding students through concepts in a way that builds both understanding and confidence, so they can eventually solve problems independently.

My tutoring style is shaped by my experience working in education and coaching. I currently work as a teacher’s aide in a Pre-K classroom and have also been a substitute teacher for grades K–8, which has taught me patience and how to adapt my explanations to different learning styles and age groups. I also bring experience from athletics as a former Varsity volleyball player and current assistant coach for high school freshmen. This has given me a positive, team-oriented mindset, and I approach tutoring the same way; we work together to reach goals. Some students benefit from visual explanations, while others need step-by-step reasoning, and I make it a priority to adjust my approach based on each student’s needs.

I have experience working both one-on-one and in classroom settings, helping students across a wide range of subjects and levels. My goal is always to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building their skills. I strive to make learning less stressful and more engaging, and I am always happy to adjust my methods to support each student best. I’m easy to reach and would love to help you or your student feel more confident and successful in math!
