My passion for education spans more than two decades, during which I worked as a bilingual classroom teacher and later as a school principal at both the middle and high school levels. I hold a bilingual teaching certification in English and Spanish for grades 1 through 6, as well as a Master's degree in Business and Accounting. These credentials, combined with years of hands-on experience in diverse school communities, have given me a deep understanding of how students learn — and how to meet them where they are.
As a bilingual educator, I taught reading and language arts alongside math to elementary-aged students, primarily in grades 1 through 6. I worked in traditional classroom settings as well as small-group and one-on-one environments, always adapting to each student's pace and learning style. I believe in building confidence before diving into content — especially in math, where many learners arrive with anxiety or gaps in foundational skills. My approach focuses on breaking concepts into manageable steps, connecting new material to what students already know, and celebrating every bit of progress along the way.
Spanish has always been a natural extension of my work. As a native Spanish speaker with a formal bilingual certification, I have supported emerging bilingual learners and taught Spanish to students at a range of proficiency levels. Whether a student is just starting out or working to strengthen their grammar and fluency, I bring patience, cultural authenticity, and practical strategies to every session.
