Hello, my name is Colton. I am a lifelong musician, violinist, and composer with a passion for helping others achieve their musical goals. Whether you are studying for AP music theory exams, preparing for Violin auditions, or simply exploring your passion for music or composition, I am prepared to help. To these topics, I bring not just academic knowledge, but real passion and experience. I have worked creating commercial music for films and games, as well as run a successful music theory and composition focused YouTube channel with thousands of views. As a Violinist I have played in Irish music session, jazz ensembles, and classical orchestras. I am always looking for ways to connect music to my own interests, and I love helping students find that excitement for themselves.

To our lessons I bring a degree in music composition, and years of experience teaching private music lessons on various remote platforms. My teaching style is all about deep understanding. It is easy to provide the answer to a specific problem. It is more useful to the student to explore gaps in knowledge, and learn the fundamental that will allow them to overcome future problems of a similar kind on their own. This is what real growth looks like, and is what I focus on fostering in my lessons. Furthermore, I know how to get the most out of remote learning, by providing engaging visual guides, examples, and material to work through outside the lesson.
