Hi there! I'm Makai and welcome to my profile. I'm an experienced math and physics tutor and I enjoy helping people learn. I have a strong foundation in both mathematics and engineering, complemented by significant teaching and tutoring experience. I started learning math pretty well when I earned my Bachelors of Science in mathematics. I was even a top student in the math department. I also earned a PhD in Engineering.
I started gaining experience teaching and tutoring as a student with professors asking me to teach their courses when they were out. This included math and engineering courses. I was also in a program where we tutored newer incoming students to Georgia Tech. I also worked with high school physics and math teachers to create a tutoring program for STEM subjects, which ran for 3 years. I was also a NASA STEP Fellow, which allowed me to teach high school math and physics, both standard and AP level. While earning a PhD, I was also required to teach a college course for 1 year. As a professional, the commitment to teaching and tutoring has not stopped. Tutoring has ranged from teaching technical skills to engineers in their cubicles, to tutoring adults going back to earn their high school diploma, to showing up at community centers to volunteer my services math tutoring students. I have helped a student climb from a most failing GPA all the way up to 4.0 GPA! I have also earned my teaching certification and have written 2 physics books.
I have truly been blessed to share my understanding of math and physics with others. These experiences have molded me into a solid teacher and mentor. Knowledge truly is a tangible form of power in this world that can be used in so many beneficial ways. So, I'm here for it! If you are in need of some help in math and/or physics, consider me because I can likely help you succeed and become more than you are. And we'll both be better off for it. So, hope to here from you, but if I don't, good luck crushing those learning goals!
