Hi there! My name is Sophia, and I am currently an undergraduate pursuing a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Financial Computations at a T20 university. I graduated high school as the top 10% in my county with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and also taking AP classes. I took 11 AP Exams (all with a 4 or 5) and completed the IB program (with scores of 6 and 7). I am also certified by the state as bilingual in Mandarin Chinese. Having always grown up interested in math and volunteering for most of my life, I found myself drawn to the intersection of the two in economics.
I started volunteering in early middle school, where I tutored elementary school students and continued to tutor throughout high school where I tutored middle school aged students extensively. As I got older, I began tutoring my younger sibling as well in various subjects in high school like AP BC Calculus and in test prep for both the ACT and SAT as well since I have taken both exams (35/1560). I have taken on tutoring jobs in college for students from elementary to college students. As of today, I have tutored mostly one-on-one for 7 years now in almost every core subject. This has helped me to really develop my tutoring skills, where I first ensure that students feel comfortable to ask any questions and then make sure that we can make tangible progress on their learning of concepts, whether it be through homework completion together or working through practice problems.
As an economics student, I have also successfully undergone the recruiting process for internships in corporate development and investment banking, which has given me lots of experience in learning financial concepts and interview preparation. I have lots of experience in conducting mock interviews and structuring stories, so I would be more than happy to help with college application/interview prep and internship recruiting preparation as well!
