My name is Kierah, though most of my students know me as Mrs. Kiki. I am a former middle school educator with over 16 years of experience supporting students in grades 6–8 in developing strong writing and communication skills. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration, and I bring extensive experience helping students master essay structure, research writing, and written expression across multiple subject areas. My background includes classroom teaching, small-group instruction, one-on-one academic support, and curriculum design, allowing me to effectively meet diverse learning needs.
I specialize in American, Political Science, Social Studies, Writing. My teaching experience spans both K–12 and higher education. I served as a Political Science and Public Policy instructor at Stephen F. Austin State University for five years, and I also taught for over a decade through Teach For America as a Social Studies and Writing teacher at KIPP Polaris Academy for Boys, a Title I school in Houston, Texas. Currently, I manage and operate a S.T.E.A.M. nonprofit organization and after-school program serving youth ages 7–13.
I specialize in guiding students through the full writing process—from brainstorming and organizing ideas to drafting, revising, and editing. I use structured, student-friendly strategies such as paragraph frameworks, modeling, and real-time feedback to improve clarity, organization, and voice. I also support students with research projects and preparation for assessments such as the STAAR exam.
My approach focuses on building both confidence and independence by breaking down complex tasks into manageable, achievable steps. I work with a wide range of learners, from those needing additional support to those looking to refine and strengthen their skills. My goal is not only to help students succeed on individual assignments, but to equip them with lasting writing strategies that support long-term academic growth.
