I received my PhD in Political Science with an emphasis on International Relations and Comparative Politics in 2016. I am trained in quantitative statistical methods, but also have research experience in qualitative analysis and survey design. I also have a certification in Geospatial Information Systems from the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, with experience in ArcGIS and QGIS software and associated Python scripting.
For the last ten years I have taught university level courses in Political Science, research methods, and Public Affairs for both undergraduates and graduates. I have experience teaching across classroom, online, and one-on-one settings.
I especially enjoy helping students improve their critical reading skills, developing their writing, and making the daunting subject of statistics feel less intimidating. I approach my teaching from a formative, active learning, standpoint. This means giving students ample opportunity to practice skills step-by-step, with large amounts of interactive feedback at each step, letting students build towards a learning objective in a low stress environment.
