If you’ve been studying, writing, or preparing for a test and still feel stuck, I’m gonna be real — it’s probably not the content.

It’s how you’re approaching it. That’s what I fix.

I’m a former AP Government teacher with a background in history and legal studies, and I’ve worked with students from high school through graduate level.

I help students across:

AP Government and AP History exam prep
civics and certification exams (including Praxis and civic literacy exams)
essays, debate, and argument development
law and policy-based coursework

Most of my students:

know more than their results show
overthink or second guess themselves
struggle to organize their thoughts clearly
feel like they’re putting in effort but not seeing results

In our sessions, we don’t just review material.

I show you how to:

break down questions and prompts so they actually make sense
structure strong responses (FRQs, essays, arguments)
stop guessing and start seeing patterns
approach work the same way every time so it clicks

I also work well with students who need structure, including those with ADHD or executive function challenges.

Most of my students don’t need more information.

They need a better way to use what they already know.

If that sounds like you, feel free to reach out.

Knowledgable, patient, flexible, and very professional!

Shaniaya is a FANTASTIC tutor. She is so patient, reassuring, and extremely knowledgable. She tutored my son in AP Government and worked with him on understaning the process of FRQs for unit 2. Her dispotion, positive attitude, flexibility, and teaching skills are unmatched. I am so grateful we were able to schedule time with her and hope she will always be available for additional tutoring. Thank you, Shaniay! You are a lifesaver and instilled so much confidence in my son!

Great first session! very encouraging and helpful! Super patient

Shaniaya was really nice and knowledgeable right from the start. She began with a diagnostic test to see where I was at, which I thought was really helpful. Even in just one session, I felt my confidence grow. I’m really looking forward to our next sessions!

Knowledgable Organized Sweet Tutor

I am currently in law school and reached out to Ms. Shaniaya to prepare for my final exams. We reviewed property law and torts, and I was impressed by her strategies and the way she breaks down complex concepts. I wish I had found her during my first semester! I truly appreciate the effort she put into preparing the session materials. She helped boost my confidence significantly. Additionally, her prices and scheduling flexibility are fantastic. She made such a strong impression on me that I look forward to tutoring with her throughout my entire law school experience. For any law students looking for a tutor, I highly recommend her!

Organized and Prepared

Shaniaya helped me prepare my college persuasion speech. Prior to the session I sent her my speech and rubric, she then had a 20+ slide deck prepared for our first session on what I can approve and what I did well. She got straight to the point and had me practice concepts throughout. She’s extremely organized and I highly recommend her as a tutor!

Miranda, 2 lessons with Shaniaya
Tutor responded:

Miranda, thank you so much! I’m glad the structure and targeted feedback helped refine your speech and align it with the rubric. You did a great job applying the revisions in real time—that level of preparation is what makes presentations stand out. Excited to see how you continue to build on this!

Best tutor i have had

Online lessons usually don’t work well for me, but she is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. She puts a lot of effort into her history lessons by making simple, clear slideshows and explaining things in depth. She gets excited to help, answers questions in different ways, and uses pictures and examples so I can really understand. She even makes questions to check my understanding, and I learn more in 30 minutes with her than I do in 30 days at school.

ROMILA, 3 lessons with Shaniaya
