My tutoring style is strongly influenced by the teachers who helped me most in school. I found that the classes I enjoyed and learned from the most weren't always the subjects I was naturally best at, but the ones taught by instructors who were engaging, patient, and willing to explain concepts in multiple ways. I try to bring that same mindset into my tutoring by creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I typically use flexible lesson plans that begin with a brief, engaging introduction to the topic, followed by explicit instruction and guided examples. I then make sure students have time to practice independently so they can build confidence in their understanding. This approach can always be adjusted based on the subject matter and each student's individual learning style.
I am a Texas Forensic Association finalist. I've also placed first and reached finals in multiple debate championships in the state of Houston. I have most experience in Policy debate, specifically CX, with a lesser degree of experience in World Schools debate and Lincoln-Douglas. I also have experience tutoring students, working both one-on-one and in small groups with students who needed additional support. I also earned scores of 5 on AP exams in English (reading and writing), Biology, and Economics, which allows me to confidently teach both core concepts and test-taking strategies.
