Hi, I'm Yujin. I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with honors. I double-majored in Political Science and an interdisciplinary program called Philosophy–Neuroscience–Psychology, and minored in History. I’m currently the lead 8th grade English teacher at a middle school in Houston, Texas. Previously, I taught high school English. I’m certified to teach English (Grades 7–12) in Texas and hold a Master Teacher designation through the Texas Education Agency.
With eight years of classroom experience and over a decade of tutoring experience, I specialize in individualized and small-group instruction. It's my day-to-day job to design secondary English lessons—not just for my own students, but also for fellow teachers as part of my role as lead teacher. I’ve also contributed to writing English curriculum for the entire school district; I bring strong content knowledge in reading comprehension, analysis and academic writing.
I’ve also supported students across the U.S. and Korea with SAT Reading/Writing prep, academic writing, and college admissions essays. I am passionate about helping students craft strong personal statements and build confidence in their writing and analytical skills. I have many success stories of students being admitted to top universities and colleges—including Ivy League and highly selective institutions—through personalized support on their essays and applications.
As an educator, I’m both results-driven and relationship-focused. I take the time to understand each student’s strengths, needs, and learning style. I design engaging, personalized lessons and offer strategies that students can continue using long after our sessions end. I create a supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions and giving feedback. Whether you're preparing for a standardized test, working on an essay, or looking to strengthen your reading comprehension and writing skills, I’m here to help you reach your goals.
