My name is Salma and I am currently a 3rd grade ELAR/SS teacher in Houston, TX!
This is my 5th year in education, and I have previously taught 4th grade ELA as well.
I received my B.S. in Teaching & Learning (2020) & my M. Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction - Social Education/Social Studies (2023) from University of Houston (go coogs!). I have my Texas Teacher Certification (EC-6) Generalist & ESL Supplemental Certification. I am GT certified and have experience working with students with diverse needs. I am also currently working towards my National Board Certification (Literacy: Early and Middle Childhood) to be completed in 2026.
I have delivered face-to-face and virtual tutoring to small-groups of students & one-on-one in students grades 1st-5th.
I am a passionate advocate for students, and my "why" consists of providing students with an educational experience that grows, represents and engages them. I am passionate about students being able to effectively read and write, to comprehend the word around them, think critically about text and express their thoughts and ideas through writing.
