My name is Tomi, and I'm a current student at Western Governors University where I'm studying for my Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. As a dedicated STEM student, I am passionate about coding and am proficient in Python and Java. With several years of online tutoring experience, I tutor students in my subjects of academic strength, including US History, economics, and various Math and English courses, from elementary to high school levels, including pre-algebra and algebra. I also have expertise in essential digital skills like Microsoft Word. My core strengths lie in Math and English, where I guide students to move beyond frustration and into confidence.

My approach to tutoring is built on patience and openness, which I believe are the cornerstones of building a student's confidence. My goal is to create a learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes without judgment. I've found that when students feel supported and understood, they're more likely to engage with the material and take the risks necessary for true learning.
In my lessons, I emphasize patience by allowing students to work at their own pace. Instead of rushing to an answer, I encourage them to articulate their thought process. By listening carefully and asking guiding questions, I can pinpoint where they're struggling and provide targeted support. This method fosters a collaborative environment where students learn to trust their own abilities. I remain open to different learning styles and adapt my methods to suit each student. My aim is to make each lesson an engaging and positive experience, moving beyond traditional memorization.
