I have always been passionate about teaching. Right from my time in grade 5 in elementary school, there were days that the headmaster (principal) drafted me to cover for first grade teachers who could not make it to school. In college, at the University of Houston, I tutored freshman economics during my undergraduate program and was a teaching assistant in finance while completing my graduate program.
Upon graduation, I have worked in various analyst roles, including as a financial analyst where I have had the opportunity to put the concepts and theories that I learned in college into practical application to see their real-world impacts. In addition, I have worked as an adjunct professor of finance in a 4-year college where I taught junior level finance courses and was the only 5-star rated (on ratemyprofessor.com) faculty member in the entire finance and economics department at the time.
Currently, I am completing my master's degree in data science at the highly rated Rice University in Houston. This program has pushed my knowledge and love of statistics to a new high level. This mathematics subject finds application in every field of endeavor. I want to help students master this subject so that they can be successful in their chosen fields of interest.
I am committed to the success of my students. I believe in understanding the comfort level of my students, and then, building from that comfort level to quickly increase their knowledge, competence and confidence.
