I am a second year MBA student at Rice University's Jones School of Graduate Business. I am extremely happy to be a part of the Wyzant platform and look forward to mentoring anyone interested in learning more about finance.
I received my undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University where I studied Economics. After graduating, I began working as a substitute teacher for the local school district. I entered the oil & gas industry, shortly after, where I spent the next few years working in strategic planning for a locally based E&P company. From there, I moved into land management for a small third-party financial services company.
During my time as a substitute teacher, I discovered my passion for guiding others through their educational journeys. Working with students across various grade levels allowed me to develop a versatile teaching style, emphasizing patience, adaptability, and clear communication. This experience gave me valuable insights into identifying unique learning needs and tailoring my approach to ensure each student grasps complex concepts. From breaking down challenging topics to fostering a supportive environment, I found joy in empowering others to achieve their goals and build confidence in their abilities.
As a tutor, my approach centers on creating a personalized and engaging learning experience. I prioritize understanding each student's objectives and learning style to design sessions that are both effective and enjoyable. I employ successful tutoring techniques such as active learning, real-world application of concepts, and structured goal-setting. Whether it’s simplifying intricate financial models, explaining economic theories, or helping prepare for exams, I focus on building a strong foundational understanding and encouraging critical thinking. My MBA from Rice University, combined with years of professional finance experience, equips me with both the academic knowledge and practical insights to mentor individuals curious about finance.
