Hello! My name is Dominique, and I’m a 25-year-old educator from Houston, Texas. I hold a bachelor's degree in Japanese Language and Literature and have had the privilege of teaching in Japan through GPI US Empowerment. This program focuses on helping Japanese high school students gain confidence in learning new languages, and it has given me invaluable hands-on experience in teaching and fostering language growth. My teaching journey has helped me understand that confidence is key, and mastering the basics is crucial to building a strong foundation, especially with a language as distinct from English as Japanese.
I specialize in beginner to intermediate Japanese, and I use the third edition of Genki 1 along with its workbook to guide students through their learning journey. My teaching style is highly engaging, as I believe an enthusiastic and supportive teacher is key to making language learning enjoyable! I strive to create an environment where students can immerse themselves in the language and build the confidence needed to continue growing.
I offer a free consultation meeting to assess each student’s needs and learning goals, and I ask for a 24-hour notice for cancellations. I’ll always send reminders of these policies via email before we begin lessons.
