Hi, my name is Deanna! I grew up in Houston and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience, and I am currently an MS1 at Baylor College of Medicine. I have been a tutor for the past 4 years, primarily working with students on medical school applications, the MCAT, and sciences like general chemistry.

In college, I relied on resources like peer mentors and office hours to build my own studying habits and find community. With the help of those around me, I succeeded in challenging classes and exams, such as scoring a 521 on my MCAT. As a tutor, I hope to pass on what I know and support others pursuing a similar path.

While I enjoy the academic side of tutoring, what I also find meaningful is getting to know my students over the course of our sessions. Every student learns in a unique way, and intentionally connecting with my students allows me to understand the intersection of identity and academics. I am committed to building and tailoring individualized study plans for my students.

I am communicative and open to feedback, not only when we meet for the first time but also throughout our sessions together. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to meeting you!

MCAT

She gave me good strategies to tackle the C/P section of the MCAT and how to think through passages and difficult problems. I really liked how she helped me plan my studying for the next few days before our next tutoring session. I’m looking forward to applying what I learned and coming back to see how I can improve more.
