Hello! My name is Kayla and I am so excited to be your tutor. I have a lengthy background in chemistry beginning 11 years ago with my first chemistry course and shortly thereafter became a tutor. Since then I graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in chemistry. During my undergraduate education, I taught five accredited university level chemistry courses at my undergraduate institution which included, general chemistry I, general chemistry II, organic chemistry I, organic chemistry II and chemistry for nursing students. I taught for 3.5 years and became a nationally certified supplemental instructor. While I love studying chemistry, I enjoy teaching and helping students even more. After undergrad, I decided to pursue a PhD in organic chemistry and I am currently in my fourth year. During graduate school I have continued to teach chemistry lab courses and tutor students as much as I can. I’ve created hundreds of worksheets and resources for students to use to help them move towards mastery in their studies. Building trust and a safe space to learn is my number one goal as an instructor and if we work together I will do whatever I can to support you. Although chemistry can be intimidating, the more you learn how to “think” like a chemist the better you become (especially with lots of practice). I hope we can work together soon!
