Writing and Journalism Tutor: 14 Years of Experience + Master's

Hello, and wonderful to meet you!

I'm a professional writer, editor, and journalist with 14 years of professional experience and a master's in English from University of St. Thomas. My bylines include Houstonia Magazine, Chron.com, Houston Food Finder, Houston Press, San Francisco Chronicle, Texas Signal, and Houston Landing. I've also edited fiction, most notably Rob Saucedo's comic Where Wolf for Fangoria Magazine's website.

Probably safe to say that I have a strong foundation in spelling, grammar, and word choice, as well as outlining and structuring a piece of writing for optimal flow!

My teaching experience includes ESL for adults, as well as composition and rhetoric to college freshmen, both in a classroom setting. I also currently serve as a teaching assistant for the Lau Lapides Company, with an emphasis on the business side of voiceover and the performing arts. I have the most experience educating and engaging with teens and young adults. Coming from an interdisciplinary background, which also includes working as a professional comedian and voiceover artist and a BFA in advertising and graphic design from Sam Houston State University, grants me a unique perspective on the interconnectivity of different practices and perspectives.
