Hello! I am an incoming medical student at UTMB John Sealy School of Medicine. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and a psychology minor, and also have a Master's in Pharmacology and Physiology from the University of Florida.
In my gap years, I worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Texas Children's Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, studying mechanisms of speech and language in children with intractable epilepsy. Throughout high school and college, I have always enjoyed tutoring peers in my classes. I have teaching experience in a neuroscience laboratory, training incoming students in the basic understanding of the biology behind our behavioral studies. I served as the president of Texas A&M's American Medical Student Association and partook in our mentorship program to help younger students in one-on-one study sessions for their pre-medical classwork, including neuroscience classes, anatomy and physiology, and cell biology. I have also spent much time assisting premedical students with the intricacies of the medical school application systems (TMDSAS, AMCAS, and AACOMAS). I have a passion for working with others and explaining concepts in creative ways that have helped me develop engaging learning techniques for students ranging from 9th grade to senior undergraduates.
Through Wyzant, I hope to encourage high school and college students in their studies and aim to share my passion for neuroscience and medicine. I love using visual aids and analogies to explain complicated topics and incorporating elements of humor and creativity with complex pathways and mechanisms. In addition to aiding in the grasping of concepts and understanding of material, I am happy to share advice on how I found successful methods that have helped me on my journey to becoming a physician as well!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or goals, and I look forward to being a part of your academic path!
