Hello All,
My name is Lazette, and I have 23 years of teaching experience, where I have taught students ranging from high school to adults. My education started at Texas Southern University, where I achieved my bachelor’s degree in biology. My knowledge continued at the University of Houston, where I obtain my teacher certification in biology and a Master’s in Education in Curriculum and Instruction, focusing on science education. I am now pursuing a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership K-12 at Grand Canyon University.

What I like about being a teacher is the interaction with the students. I am a high school teacher that enjoys seeing them grow from 9th -12th grade. I am proud of how they have matured over the years. What I found to be challenging is teaching a testing subject. Why? Because of all data team meetings and what goes into planning a curriculum. For example, we would have to make sure whatever we are teaching is aligned with the state TEKS. We also must look at the previously given state test to ensure the verbs are aligned with what we teach.

I am currently teaching AP Biology for students interested in the medical field as a career and teaching Biology for 9th-grade students in preparing them for the STAAR state exam. As a Stafford MSD teacher, my duty and goal to make my students with the knowledge and skills they would need to move on with their education and career goals. I enjoy working with my colleagues; we meet as teams to collaborate on the curriculum. I love my students. I adore building rapport with my students to see how enthusiastic I am about my curriculum.
