About Krista

Bio

I have been teaching the CCNA curriculum at a magnet school in one of the biggest school districts in Texas since 2014. Because I teach this subject to high school students, I’ve become very good at breaking it down in a way each unique learner can understand. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and am a certified Netacad instructor and also certified Texas teacher.

Why should you choose me as your network engineering tutor? I’ll give you a few reasons.

First, I’m an actual trained and certified teacher. Just because you are an expert in a subject doesn’t mean you are good at teaching it!

So that begs the question, am I a good teacher? My results say yes. Every year, high school students come out of my class CCNA certified. I’ve had students graduate, become engineers at 18, and make six figures by 19. I’ve had students become Texas state champs in Network Engineering competitions and go on to place top 10 nationally, earning job offers from Cisco on the spot. I’ve been awarded several teacher excellence awards over the years. Students like my class so much that I’ve grown enrollment by 400% since I started and now have a waitlist.

What about knowledge? Well, I literally wrote the book on networking. When I began, my class used Cisco’s Netacad curriculum exclusively. I wasn’t satisfied with it — it was clear to me it was written by experts, not teachers. So I wrote my own, building everything from the textbook to Packet Tracers from the ground up. This is what I use to get my students to reach the heights of success that they have, and the knowledge base I’ll use to help you succeed too.

Please see my bio for details on my teaching experience and networking expertise. I've been a certified Texas teacher and certified Cisco Networking Academy (Netacad) instructor since 2014. More specifically, topics I can help you with include but are not limited to IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnetting and VLSM, MAC addresses, ARP, the OSI model, TCP/IP protocol suite, basic hardware, static routes, OSPF, binary, ACLs, wildcard masks, DHCPv4 and DHCPv6, NAT/PAT, VLANs, trunking, inter-VLAN routing, etherchannel, FHRP and HSRP, switchport security, STP, general network functionality, network design, etc. It would include anything covered on the CCNA, which also includes most topics on the CompTIA Network+ exam.
