Typically my focus is on helping the student find out how to solve the problems at hand using their thought process instead of imposing my own directly.
When providing help I first try to understand what the student knows and thinks about the problem at hand. If they are missing basic information I fill in the gaps, if they have all the basic info and are using it incorrectly I usually walk them through different approaches to see which one best helps them reach the solution. Overall I try to tailor my approach to the student and their needs, be it very directional or slow step by step exploration.
I have tutored up to HS Honors Geometry and am experienced in teaching all of the theories required up to that level starting with elementary math (common core, algebraic equations, Pythagorean theorem and more).
