Acting

I graduated from the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts in 2007 and have been on MTV as well as performed Off Broadway in NYC. I founded the drama department at Jilin University Lambton College in Shanghai, China in 2018, and was the Drama Teacher for NAIS International High School in 2022-2023.

American History

As a Reading Comprehension Specialist, American History is my favorite subject both as a student and teacher. The skills of comprehension that I utilize will help you or your child/student to discover the benefits of thoroughly grasping American History whether for personal goals, classroom scores, or standardized test success.

English

English is my specialty subject, the one wherein I obtained my Bachelor’s degree and the primary subject I’ve taught throughout my 10 years of full time international teaching experience as well as 5 years part-time tutoring. I’ve helped hundred of students (college, high school, middle school, and elementary) master this subject in their target areas and look forward to doing the same for you.

ESL/ESOL

I have been teaching ESL students for two years in Texas public high schools. I also taught ESL in China for 7 years at the training schools, International high schools, and on the University level. I’ve had students attend colleges in France and Australia upon completing after bolstering their English test scores. Having successfully helped students through live in person coaching for the IELTS/TOEFL, Public Speaking, and ELA: I am uniquely qualified to continue delivering results to Non Native English Speakers in America and around the world.

I taught IETLS test prep in China for 2 years at the training school Perfect English in Changchun, China to high school students who needed quality scores to go to college abroad. Students became familiar with test questions, strategies for answering them, and bolstered their English along the way. We had students attend colleges in France and Australia upon completing our course and graduating high school. Having successfully helped students through live in person coaching for the IELTS; I am experienced in delivering results.

Literature

English Literature is such a beautiful subject that fosters the development of technical English skills on its most artistic canvas. Yet for many people English Literature is a feared and often avoided subject that doesn’t pique their interest. Studies have shown that one aspect of boredom is the inability to comprehend. In short when something we read or watch is hard to understand; we lose interest in it. Public Speaking

I taught a course titled the Art of Public Speaking for 4 years. In addition to training students on differences between Persuasive vs Demonstration vs Improvisational Public Speaking I also created three programs to further activate student skills in this area: The Drama Club, The Magazine Club, and The Speech Competition. I understand the fundamentals of proper public speaking which include first impressions, how to properly open a speech by hooking the audience as well as tactics to hold their attention, and remain memorable to audiences and judges alike. I've taught scientifically proven tactics to reduce nervousness and speak with authority for years.

Reading

SAT Reading

It can be truly challenging to read passages under time constraints especially on SAT level standardized tests. As a Reading Comprehension Expert, I specialize in tutor students for College Admissions exams such as SAT Reading. My approach assists in fundamental test taking strategies, key insight into how the SAT Reading test is designed, and creating personalized methods to bolster individual strengths, transform weakness, and obtain target scores. STAAR

In my role at the Houston Independent School District from 2023-2025, I taught 10th, 11th, and 12 grade students tactics and lessons designed to improve their STARR scores as I worked for the TEA system. We taught student's how to complete short constructed responses as well as long constructed responses. They learned how to format answers so that their scores would improve. One of the keys to this strategy was enabling them to properly cite the text in their responses.
