In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master of Science in Criminal Justice. Criminal Justice is a field of study and/or major, not a subject. It is comprised of multiple courses, including Criminology, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Crime in America, Court Systems and Practices, Juvenile Justice Systems, Police Systems and Practices, Fundamentals of Criminal Law, Criminal Investigation, and Report Writing. As an adjunct and full-time college Criminal Justice instructor, security academy manager, and police academy instructor, I have successfully taught all of these courses, and more.
