I like to help students solve each individual Math problem, and don't mind going through the problems step by step. I try to give illustrations when possible, and help students to understand how a rule might apply to a given problem.
I want to make myself available to whoever can use my help. I want to help students understand why certain rules apply in solving algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, or trigonometry problems. As far as experience, I worked for my college as a math tutor while still in college, and nowadays tutor family members when needed. I work full-time as a computer programmer, but tutoring is my passion, because it provides an opportunity to get out there and make a difference in my community, as opposed to sitting in front of a computer all day long without much interaction with the general public during the work day. Seeing students improve their problem-solving skills motivates me to do better, not only in my career, but also in developing long-term relationships. David did an excellent job with my son in reviewing algebra. He was very patient and took the time to see what he knew and what he needed to review. We look forward to our future sessions with him.
David did a great job. We needed a tutor at the last minute to help my son with college algebra and he was available on the spot. He met with my son in spite of the bad weather. My son said he was clear and precise. He was on time and very kind. We look forward to tutoring with him again.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In November 2013, I started developing a new billing software in Access to replace the existing one used at work. At the time, I already knew how to import text files, do some simple queries, and some very simple report generation, but knew little about coding in VBA. I since then completed and implemented this new billing software at work (in Feb 2016), and am continuing to enhance by adding more functionalities to it. I did not take a class to learn Access, but learned a lot by trial & error.
