K-3 Phonics Expert: Building Confident, Joyful Early Readers

Hello! I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and am Texas certified in early childhood through sixth grade, with endorsements in English as a Second Language (ESL) and Gifted and Talented (GT) education. I have eight years of professional classroom teaching experience with students from kindergarten through sixth grade. I have taught all elementary subject areas in the lower grades, with additional experience teaching English Language Arts and social studies in the upper elementary grades. I especially enjoy helping students strengthen their reading, phonics, writing, grammar, and comprehension skills.

Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students in whole-group, small-group, and individualized instructional settings. I know that students do not all learn in the same way, so I begin by identifying what a student already understands and where they need support. From there, I break challenging skills into manageable steps, model new concepts clearly, provide guided practice, and gradually help students become more independent. My ESL training has also strengthened my ability to explain language and literacy concepts in clear, accessible ways.

My goal is to create a warm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again. I want students to leave each session feeling more confident than when they arrived, while also making meaningful academic progress. Whether your child needs support with foundational reading and phonics, reading fluency and comprehension, writing and grammar, or general elementary academics, I would love to help them build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
