I hold a Ph.D. in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) Physics from Missouri S&T, where I conducted research in laser-based experiments and taught students at all levels. My formal teaching experience includes leading college recitations in atomic physics, running introductory lab sections, and volunteering regularly with Missouri S&T’s Physics Learning Center. My teaching career began over a decade ago, in 2013, when I first started tutoring fellow undergraduates in math and physics. Since then, I’ve worked with students across a wide range of ages and ability levels, from high schoolers preparing for the AP Physics exam to college students tackling quantum mechanics.
Since 2020, I’ve also tutored online through platforms like Tutor.com and Varsity Tutors. These experiences helped sharpen my ability to adapt quickly to each student’s situation, whether that’s explaining a tricky homework concept, building confidence before a test, or catching up after falling behind in class. My approach is student-centered and Socratic: I ask guiding questions, encourage critical thinking, and adjust how I explain things until it clicks. I prefer longer sessions, when possible, which give us time to explore the topic deeply and work through confusion at the student’s own pace.
Tutoring has always been more than a job for me. I’ve seen firsthand how transformational good guidance can be. One of my earliest students started with the belief that they would never be good at physics, but by the end of the semester, they were succeeding beyond their expectations and genuinely enjoying the process. Moments like that are what I strive for in every session.
