Business

To make it in the business world, it's important to know what the field is all about. What better way than taking business courses? There may be times, though, when you need help is understanding the principles of management or marketing, how to write effective business letters and memos, or how ethics plays into the makeup of today's world. This is where you need me. I have a B.S. degree in General Business and a M.A. degree in Management and Supervision with a concentration in Personnel Management. I taught introduction to business and records management at a public high school, plus I taught management classes on a part-time basis for a community college. I also taught at a 4-year university in their business department also on a part-time basis while I was raising my children. I am a dedicated reader and am a self-directed learner, so if I don't have an answer off the top of my head, I will find it in a reasonable amount of time. I am sincerely interested in helping you get through your business courses, and I am willing to meet with you as often as needed to support your learning and understanding of the various business topics. I have edited many papers, so I can be of help in checking your writing to ensure that you have covered the topics and have complied with the dictates of standard English grammar. ESL/ESOL

If you are an ESL student, I recognize that you face many challenges trying to learn the English language. You are fortunate, though, that I have the patience, experience, dedication, and empathy needed to help you learn or sharpen your skills in reading, writing, listening, or speaking in English. I studied a foreign language when in high school and college, so I understand the demands of learning a second or third language. Also, I have lived abroad for a number of years, so I am familiar with how important language is and how valuable it can be to those who want to study, work, or live in another country. Acculturation is not an easy task due to the differences inherent in the mores, norms, attitudes, and dictates of a new culture. Because I currently work with ESL students at the community college and high school levels, I know I can assist you in reaching your language goals. My B.A. degree is in English, and my B.S. degree is in business. My M.A. degree is in management and supervision, so I am knowledgeable about writing throughout several fields and can provide continued support for you to become more proficient in the English language. I want to you know that I will be your cheerleader as I encourage you to success no matter how long it may take for you to reach your goals. Sociology

I taught sociology for a number of years in my school district at the high school level. I also worked with a book company and wrote supplemental workbooks/supplemental materials for their sociology book -- "Sociology and You" through the National Textbook Company. I have Texas state certification in sociology and minored plus in college. I have implemented sociology programs which have taken students out of the classroom into the community on a volunteer basis. Sociology is an interesting subject that I enjoy working with, so I welcome the opportunity to tutor.
