I am a certified secondary mathematics teacher in Texas, holding an active certification through the Texas Education Agency along with a master's degree in education. Over the past ten years, I have taught high school mathematics in a traditional classroom setting, with Algebra 1 as my core focus and area of deepest expertise. I have primarily worked with students in the 14 to 16 age range, guiding them through the foundational concepts of algebra as part of a full-time classroom teaching role, while also teaching AP Statistics to older high school students.
My teaching approach is energetic and fast paced, designed to keep students engaged and lessons moving without letting momentum drag. That said, I never sacrifice understanding for speed. I focus heavily on making sure the underlying concepts genuinely click for each student, rather than having them memorize steps without comprehension. I lean on real world, concrete examples to demonstrate how algebra applies outside the classroom, which I have found consistently helps students connect with material that can otherwise feel abstract. I particularly enjoy working with students who have struggled with math in the past, since building their confidence alongside their skills is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching for me.
In addition to my full time classroom experience, I have supported students individually and in small groups within the classroom setting, adapting my explanations to each student's pace and learning style. This one on one adaptability, combined with a decade of consistent classroom teaching, gives me a strong foundation for translating my approach into an online, one on one tutoring environment for students who need focused, personalized support in Algebra 1.
