About Kayla

Bio

I just started my 15th year as a teacher. I have taught adult education and elementary/middle school. I have experience with ELAR, Math, Science, Social Studies, study skills, and Special Education. I am currently a 4th grade self contained teacher. I love teaching and seeing the student's eyes light up the first time they "get" it.

I have experience working with all types of students and one of the biggest things I teach in conjunction with my subjects is study skills.

I am a teacher in Texas. Although we do not teach Common Core, our TEKS standards are aligned with Common Core. The content and how to teach a skill is the same; but the sequence of skills may differ from the TEKS. I have used lots of activities and methods from Common Core to teach various skills in my classroom.

I have a degree in Special Education and have worked extensively with learning disabilities the last 5 years. I have also attended an introduction to Dyslexia course (Reading By Design - Region 4 Texas) earlier this year.
