Howdy! My name is Jonathan. I am an engineer working for the government and hold a BS in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. During my studies I earned a 3.54 GPA, finishing with a perfect 4.0 semester while completing senior design and graduate-level courses. I consistently excelled in math and science (earning 5s on AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, and AP Statistics, as well as a 35 on the ACT Math and Science sections) and I am a proud member of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society. Alongside my academics, I worked full-time for six years, which taught me discipline, patience, and the value of hard work. In addition, my passion for teaching runs deep in my family. My mom and aunt are career teachers with over 50 years of combined experience, and I carried on that tradition as a tutor and college transfer student mentor, guiding others through both academic and personal challenges.
When it comes to tutoring, I specialize in math from Algebra through Calculus, including Statistics and Linear Algebra, as well as Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering Principles. Beyond subject mastery, I help students strengthen study skills, academic planning, time management, and technical writing. My sessions are not one-size-fits-all. I take the time to learn how each student thinks, where their confidence is strongest, and where concepts begin to feel unclear. From there, I break topics into manageable steps and connect ideas to real-world examples so they feel less abstract and more intuitive. I place a strong emphasis on patience, reliability, and steady progress, helping students not only succeed in the moment but also develop skills and independence that carry into future classes and beyond.
