I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016 with an honors physics degree. I started tutoring when I was a student and have continued since graduating. I have over 3,500 hours of experience tutoring high school and college level physics and math - a majority of which is online.

I enjoyed studying math and physics during college but found my passion in helping students understand difficult concepts and learn how to approach new topics. I want my students to eventually not need me. A lot of students that I've taught have become tutors in the material themselves.

At the beginning of each session, I go over the short-term and long-term goals of the session and adjust my tutoring style accordingly. I am always looking for feedback. If in the middle of a session you don't feel like I'm doing the very best job possible, we will take a step back and try something else.
Please contact me if you have any questions or want to schedule a session!

*COVID update* I know this year is going to be a difficult adjustment for many students. I'm able to fill in any gaps in knowledge from last year needed in current coursework.

Group Rates - If you have a group of students that wants to set up a group session, we can arrange that. I feel comfortable teaching all high school and college level math and physics topics. My group rates are below.

Calculus,

Calculus

I love calculus. I took AP calculus AB in high school, and then made a 5 by self-studying for the AP calculus BC exam. At university, my test scores allowed me to skip the two sequence class, but I took both calculus application classes and used calculus in the majority of my physics classes. I also have tutored it extensively at the college level, both for university and community college students.
Physics,

Physics

I majored in physics at UT. I have been an undergraduate teaching assistant for algebra-based physics, where I taught the lab portion and led office hours and reviews for lecture portion. Most of my tutoring experience is in physics 1 and 2.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I made a 780 on my SAT Math and a 770 on my SAT Math II subject test in 2011. Since then I have tutored all of the math subjects tested on the exam individually.
Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Prealgebra, Precalculus

Very helpful!

Whitney was very good at describing the material in multiple ways for the best understanding of the topic. I was able to greatly improve in physics and went from a C to a solid B+. She is very patient and has lots of resources for practice if it is needed.

Very Helpful

She is a very helpful tutor that helps you out a lot. I understood things way better after our session and would definitely reach out for help again.

Excellent!

My 15-year-old daughter loved her tutoring style for Geometry! This is our third Wyzant tutor and my daughter’s favorite, so far. I would definitely use Whitney again!

She saved my grade in Physics

I have been struggling with Physics ever since I was introduced to the course in High School. Since I'm Pre-Med, I needed to take Physics and do well in it to be successful, and she is the only reason that was possible. I have always been on the verge of failing, and after tutoring with Whitney for a while, I sustained top marks in my course throughout the entirety of the semester. She has my highest praise!

Knows Everything!!

My daughter says that no matter what she asks Whitney, she knows the answer and can explain it so well! Whitney is a wonderful tutor! She has helped her study and prepare for every Physics test this year.

AP Calculus

Whitney is very knowledgeable and was incredibly helpful. She helped my daughter prep for her AP Calculus mid-term covering a lot of different subject matter. With her help my daughter was able to increase her grade from an 81 to an 88 for the semester. I highly recommend Whitney.

knowledgeable and patient tutor

Whitney helped my son with the homework from his Physics class. He felt much more confident in his grasp of the subject after having worked with her. I highly recommend her.
