Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator

In my career, spanning over 30 years, I have used Adobe Illustrator for a very wide range of design applications from posters and fliers to book covers and billboards. I have used Illustrator for product design by employing the precision drafting capabilities that allow for creation of blueprints and map cartography. I use Illustrator to draft exportable files for computer-guided cutting and milling operations. In the fashion industry, I employ Illustrator to create vivid patterns for fabrics and appliques. And I often use Adobe Illustrator for Fine Art projects, Web Design Content, and for Book Illustrations as well.
Adobe Lightroom

Adobe Lightroom

I use Lightroom Classic to organize, process and edit not only digital photos, but digital artwork and web assets. I help professional photographers as well as hobbyists to set up catalogs and arrange their photos into easily searchable catalogs.
Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop

I have been using Photoshop professionally for over 25 years, for everything from print publications, web content, fine art and illustrations. I have used it to create repeating patterns for textiles, logos and mascots for T-shirts and for industrial design prototyping. Photoshop is a fascinating and versatile program that goes far beyond standard photo editing, at which it excells.
Art History

Art History

As a student at university, I undertook a double-major in Fine Art and Art Education. I was particularly fascinated with Art History, and, with a background of visiting art museums all around the country, and access to one of the finest art libraries in the nation, I aced every test. I developed some techniques for memorizing names and dates that greatly aided this process. Since graduation, I have taught innumerable classes in art and art history for in-person and online classes, and continue to expand on my knowledge of art from many nations and cultures.
Drawing

Drawing

I have a 2 Bachelors degrees: BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and BAE (Bachelor of Art Education). I have taught Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Drawing. I teach Drawing with Digital Media, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I am currently a Teaching Artist with the Dallas Independent School District, and have previously taught Drawing classes in Parks and Recreation programs, and as a substitute teacher in public and private schools, K-12.
Graphic Design

Graphic Design

I have over 35 years experience as a Graphic Designer and Artist. I am an Adobe Certified Expert in Illustrator with a high proficiency in Photoshop and InDesign. I use these apps and others for print graphics such as signs, posters, fliers, brochures, ads, catalogs, billboards and more. I also use them for online and web content and web graphics as well as for e-publications such as e-books and online articles and essays. I teach other similar and related apps such as Procreate, GIMP, Inkscape and Photopea.
Guitar

Guitar

I am a Member of the Dallas Songwriters Association. Performing locally in festivals and events. Taught Guitar lessons in Parks and Recreation programs for 3 years and tutored students on individual basis from time to time over the last 30 years. I have devised my own system for teaching chord sequences for each key (complete with chord diagrams in organizational charts) and also a system for playing lead riffs (also with professional diagrams that I have drafted in Adobe Illustrator.) I compose arrangements of popular songs with easier-to-play chord sequences for beginners. The emphasis is on Rhythm Guitar, which enables students to accompany themselves when singing favorites. For intermediate students, adding the lead riff patterns to augment their skills follows next. My introductory system does not require students to read musical notation or guitar tabs although I can help more advanced students with those endeavors as well.
Painting

Painting

I have a 2 Bachelors degrees: BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and BAE (Bachelor of Art Education) I have taught classes in Oil Painting, Basis and Advanced Drawing, Acrylic Painting , as well as traditional crafts and Digital Art. I am currently a Teaching Artist with the Dallas Independent School District, and have previously taught in Parks and Recreation programs, and as a substitute teacher in K-12.

Excellent Tutor

David is a great tutor. He’s patient and explained the various Photoshop tools thoroughly. He addressed all the issues that I requested of him, and brought up some additional stuff I hadn’t considered. I learned a lot. I also appreciate that he recorded the session so I can review it over and over again until I become proficient in Photoshop. I am very satisfied with my lesson and would highly recommend David to anyone needed help with Photoshop.

Patient and Focused

First off, it took us awhile to do screen sharing. David gave suggestions, helped me locate options and waited while I tried things. He didn’t start the pay-clock until we were fully confident things were in place. I’d never used Photoshop before and he took through it slowly and made sure I understood and could repeat each step. He focused on getting me to what I wanted to accomplish. I was very pleased with the session.

David is very patient.

For some reason getting LightRoom on my Mac to recognize my photos on my new external hard drive is quite complicated but we worked thru many different issues. We have a new plan and will hopefully be successful during our next session.

Getting me organized!

David is very knowledgeable and patient with me to help me get organized. I have almost 90,000 images that he’s helping me move from my old PC (not all organized properly) to a new one after I moved from one state (and computer) to another.
