I’m a 30-year RN (14 years bedside acute care) and college nursing faculty with 8+ years in nursing education. My style is supportive, structured, and high-accountability: we identify why you miss questions (content vs reasoning vs test strategy), build a plan, and track progress week to week.

What we’ll work on (typical):
• NGN clinical judgment + case-based reasoning
• Prioritization / delegation / safety / infection control
• Med–surg systems (GI, cardio, resp, neuro, endocrine, renal, etc.)
• Pharmacology + “what the question is really asking”
• Study plan, time management, and test anxiety structure

Best fit: students willing to do practice between sessions (even 30–45 minutes). If you want a “quick fix,” I may not be the best match—but if you want a plan that works, I’m in.

NCLEX

NCLEX

30 yr RN who believes that anyone who graduates from nursing school can pass NCLEX - even if you've failed it before. It's seems easy enough, but in 2025, slightly more than one in ten candidates didn't pass NCLEX - the worst pass rate since COVID. There's reasons for this - but for you, this is personal. If you don't pass NCLEX - this affects your hopes and dreams. I help clients organize their learning and analyze how they answer NGN Clinical Judgment style NCLEX questions - giving them real world skills to realize their dream of becoming a nurse. Message me to book a free 15 minute intake call - and let's get you set up for success! **Update - two of my repeat NCLEX takers are now fully licensed nurses this Spring!
Nursing

Nursing

Struggling with nursing exams in your final semester—or already failed NCLEX? You're not alone. Most students aren't failing because they don't know enough. They're failing because no one taught them how to think like the test. I'm a registered nurse with 30 years of experience, and I specialize in helping final-semester nursing students, new grad RN candidates, and NCLEX retakers master clinical judgment and priority-setting questions. I work with students who: - Already have solid content knowledge but struggle with application - Overthink or second-guess themselves on exams - Get tripped up by NextGen case studies, bowtie items, and SATA questions - Know the material but can't figure out what the question is actually asking What I do: I teach you how to recognize what NCLEX-style questions are really testing, use clinical reasoning patterns that work, and stop second-guessing yourself. We focus on Med-Surg prioritization, clinical judgment strategies, and the test-taking mindset you need to pass. If you're preparing for NCLEX or retaking it after a fail, let's build a plan tailored to how you learn. Message me to book a free 15-minute intake call. **Update: Two of my repeat NCLEX takers are now fully licensed nurses this Spring!

Supportive and Knowledgeable Nursing Tutor – Highly Recommend!

I just had my first session with Jay, and it was amazing! With 30 years of nursing experience, he knows his stuff and explains everything so clearly. Jay helped me get ready for my accelerated nursing program by covering time management, study strategies, the nursing process, and clinical judgment. He also gave great tips for understanding lab values, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. His advice on using concept maps and creating a schedule really stood out to me. He’s super supportive and really focused on helping me succeed. I left the session feeling confident and ready to tackle what’s ahead. I’d definitely recommend Jay to any nursing student looking for a great tutor!
