Dr. Bruce was a big help during my Pre-AP/AP Chemistry classes. It was a long road, but it was nice to know that I have an experienced teacher/helper always available. He was always punctual and on time. He has a wealth of information available at all times, and his visuals were a big help. I eventually received a 5 on the AP test thanks to my hard work and his guidance. I would recommend him to anyone who needs help, or anyone who wants that higher level of understanding.

Well rounded and knowledgeable tutor

When I began SMU and saw how difficult the chemistry department was I knew I need someone knowledgeable to help me. I found Dr. Bruce on Wyzant and he immediately came to my aid. We have been seeing each other weekly for this semester and I can confidently say I would not hav been able to pass chemistry without him. Every session we would have he not only brought extensive material to help with any topic I needed but a smile on his face as well. He genuinely cares about you and your well being, asking me after every test how it went. A very sweet soul and I highly recommend him to anyone who is need of a chemistry help.

The best Chemistry tutor

I started working with Dr. Bruce when I was a junior in high school in AP Chemistry. I was struggling in the class because of the overwhelming concepts, but after consistently working with Dr. Bruce, I was able to come out of the class with an A and a 5 on the AP exam. That was almost 2 years ago. I have recently just completed Organic Chemistry I and 2 over the summer at SMU (at an extremely fast pace). Dr. Bruce worked and supported me throughout the two courses, which helped me immensely to earn A’s in both ochem I and 2. Dr. Bruce always brought forth a plethora of resources to answer all of my questions. Sometimes even answering my questions before I asked them! He not only would answer my questions, but he would incorporate applications of chemistry to the real world (such as in nutrition or his previous research) to make the learning process much more interesting. Dr. Bruce patiently worked with me through very challenging problems and thoroughly explained concepts using clear and simple language. He has helped me succeed in some of the most daunting and rigorous courses of the pre-med curriculum. I could not recommend Dr. Bruce more as his scope of Chemistry knowledge is incomparable to other tutors out there!

Extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and patient tutor

I have been tutoring with Dr. Bruce for organic chemistry 1 & 2 and he has taught me an abundance of information in regards to both the course and outside of the course as he relayed to me the importance organic chemistry plays in one’s nutritional needs. As I am a student at smu I took ochem 1 & 2 during the summer session attaining a high B in ochem 1 and A- in ochem 2 and I couldn’t have done it without Dr. Bruce. His tutoring style caters too his students needs and he explains hard to grasp concepts in a way that make them easier to understand. What really helped me through out the course was how Dr. Bruce explained why certain ochem concepts happened rather than just simply explaining them. Through this teaching style I felt like by the time I got to the test I was well prepared to answer any question that was thrown at me as I had the background information as to what was happening and why it happened it regard to the concepts that were covered on the test and beyond. Furthermore, while understanding mechanisms in ochem can be tricky I felt that Dr. Bruce did an extremely good job of breaking down each step of the mechanism for me and explaining why it happened which helped me a ton this past summer. I honestly could not have gotten a better experience from tutoring with Dr. Bruce and highly recommend Dr. Bruce as a tutor for anyone who wants to do well in organic chemistry

Your very thought-stimulating commentary on how my complete tutoring style, coupled with the knowledge and experience gained from years of mechanistic and synthetic Organic Chemistry exposure (private sector and academic, in addition to tutoring for Organic 1 and 2), should send a clear signal to any Organic student that their confidence level will just soar through their association with me. Yes, I'm very detail-oriented and will repeat important concepts an unlimited number of times until they resonate. This is no big deal for me. What is important is that no student should look upon Organic as the so-called "deal breaker" course and end up dropping it (and even later repeating it) when they can sail through it the first time with at least a "B". You did it and so can anyone else with the desire to do so! And lastly, as you pointed out, if the prospective student is Pre-Med directed (as are you), they will benefit that much more both near and long term by seeing the connection that I establish between selected Organic concepts and 21st century macronutrient-/micronutrient-/phytonutrient-balanced Human Nutrition. Highly Recommended!

I reached out to Dr. Bruce shortly after the beginning of the school year. My daughter was starting 10th grade in the IB program at Plano East Senior High coming off a year of online instruction. It was clear from initial assessments in Chemistry and Algebra she had ground to make up and she was quickly losing confidence in her academic abilities. Dr. Bruce spent the entire school year mentoring and tutoring her in both Chemistry and Algebra II. It was clear they connected from the start and he was able to help her build her confidence, improve her speed in test taking - which delivered quick and consistent results. Dr. Bruce is reliable, and based on his years of experience has a library of texts, work problems and other materials well aligned to both subjects. There were multiple times he was able to explain concepts to my daughter in ways that far outpaced her in-class instruction and helped her to master the concepts. The school year has just ended and I’m proud to say my daughter performed well in both subjects and has chosen to pursue high level Chemistry for the remainder of her IB diploma. Had it not been for Dr. Bruce, this would have been a highly unlikely outcome. If you are looking for a reliable, top notch mentor for your student in Algebra or Chemistry I recommend Dr. Bruce. very helpful and patient tutor

Dr Bruce worked with my math-adverse daughter once a week throughout the school year, helping her with pre-calculus. She had a dismal year doing on-line algebra 2 during the pandemic and was not prepared for pre-cal. Dr Bruce was very patient and helpful and she ended up with a 90 for the year.
