Hey y'all! My name is Ria, and I am a recent dual-degree graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Human Biology and a B.A. in Plan II Honors, along with a minor in History. I have about 400 hours (2 years) of one-on-one and group tutoring experience through the UT Sanger Learning Center, where I tutored UT students in General Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I and Biostatistics. I am also CRLA Level 1 Certified.
Because I have taken these so called "weed-out" classes recently myself, found a way to perform well in them, and been able to successfully guide my peers through them, I believe I am uniquely qualified to help other students improve their grades and perform well on exams in these initially overwhelming classes. I also recognize that sometimes it is difficult to do well in these classes because of clashing teaching and learning styles, so something I prioritize in my tutoring approach is getting to know and working with, not against, the students unique learning style.
I also scored a 1500 on the SAT, including an 790 on the SAT Math section and am thus available to help with SAT preparation.
I offer a free 20 minute consultation before booking tutoring sessions in order to discuss learning styles, personal and course goals, and scheduling. If you are interested, please feel free to reach out. You are also welcome to send me any course topics/concepts that you are specifically having trouble with ahead of time so that I can best prepare for our sessions.
