For over five years, I have been tutoring in math, computer science, chemistry, biochemistry, and biology, working primarily with college students but occasionally high schoolers as well.
My tutoring experience spans classroom and laboratory settings, including one-on-one sessions and small groups of 2–4 students. I tend to employ a first-principles approach—breaking concepts down to their most fundamental components to build deep, lasting understanding from the ground up. Rather than teach an obtuse set of rules for manipulating logarithms, I teach what logarithms represent, and the rules then come naturally. Instead of just teaching the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation, I teach what pH actually is and how it behaves; the student builds an intuition for foundational concepts that will aid them for years to come. This method helps students not only grasp difficult material but also learn how to think independently and problem-solve effectively—without having to rely on rote memorization. I aim to tailor each session to meet the unique needs of my students, guiding them to success through clarity, patience, and a strong emphasis on foundational knowledge.
