I am Mrs. Khalid. I received my Bachelor’s in Science degree in Biology with a minor in STEM Secondary Education from University of Texas at Dallas, where I took courses focused on basics of life, educational leadership, and diversity inclusion in the classroom. I am a certified 7-12 composite Science teacher in Texas. I have been a classroom teacher since 2021. This experience taught me how to manage larger class sizes, work with kids of various skill levels and backgrounds, and use technology to encourage learning and retention. I use lesson plans in which I usually introduce the topic in a fun and creative way, then explicitly teach the material. Afterwards I always ensure time for students to practice the material on their own. I adjust my lesson plans based on the subject and student’s individual needs and offer before and after school tutoring on a daily basis. In addition, I’ve studied and continue to stay up to date on the latest educational software, such as Canvas, Nearpod, Progress learning, Quizizz, BrainPop etc.. I believe this knowledge is particularly relevant given commitment to technology and innovation to the students.
I have been teaching in public schools for 4 years. I have tutoring experience in Biology, Chemistry, Advanced Chemistry and Physics a year each. Although I’ll continue to hone my teaching skills as I work in the classroom, I believe that my enthusiasm, positive attitude, and hands-on experience working with the students online will make me an excellent virtual educator.
