I’m a former scientist and teacher turned lawyer. I believe that every student can learn and as a tutor, it is my goal to help each of my students unlock their academic potential.

I am passionate about making learning accessible to all students. I am experienced in tutoring environmental science, earth science, AP Human Geography, biology, and elementary and middle school science.

I pride myself on helping students reach their admissions goals from the planning stages all the way through negotiating scholarships. Having a BS, MA, and JD myself, I understand the challenges of the admissions process from the student perspective and can offer insider insight as someone who was involved in the admissions process as well.

I have been trained as an environmental scientist at the graduate level and graduated with honors from King's College London. I believe that STEM should be accessible for everyone and enjoy working with students on biology, environmental science, geography, and ecology. I have worked in ecology education with organizations like Disney's Animal Kingdom, SeaWorld Orlando, the Science Museum of Virgina, and several Virginia school systems. I have over 8 years of experience working with secondary science students and college students to help them master ecology concepts.

I am experienced in working in the classroom with individual students and small groups to provide tutoring in reading, writing, and math. In addition to working in the classroom, I have also worked in K-12 education with the Walt Disney Company, SeaWorld Orlando, and the Science Museum of Virginia where I created and taught classes for elementary students in science, reading, writing, and math.

I have worked in the public school system and with informal K-12 educational organizations like the Walt Disney Company and the Science Museum of Virginia to design and instruct K-12 classes. Building a strong foundation of math skills is critical when it comes to a student's academic success and I enjoy working with students to address any gaps in their knowledge to help them become successful, confident mathematicians.

I began working as a tutor and teacher in 2009 and really enjoy making connections with students to help them achieve their academic goals, especially in English and language arts. The ability to write well, speak clearly, and comprehend text is an important foundational skill for all students. I am experienced in supporting students in K-12 in reading, language arts, and English. I also enjoy working with college students to help them improve their reading and writing after first working with college students as a teaching assistant during my undergraduate studies.

I graduated with honors with my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Geographic Sciences. I have worked in education for over 8 years and have successfully worked with students studying physical geography and human geography at the secondary and undergraduate levels. I enjoy working with students to review for the AP Human Geography exam, as well as college students in geography classes.

I enjoy the opportunity to work with early elementary students to help them improve their handwriting. Good penmanship can boost a student's confidence and help them achieve their academic goals. As a teacher, I am experienced in helping students improve their handwriting and find great satisfaction in helping my students learn and have fun along the way.

As a lawyer, I spend a lot of time writing for my job. I have written a lot throughout my life including graduate dissertations, technical papers, grants, scholarship applications, and college personal statements. As such, I have learned quite a few tips and tricks that I enjoy passing along to my students. I enjoy the opportunity to proofread the work of my students and help provide information to help them grow as writers. I am experienced at proofreading personal statements for college and graduate school, scholarship application essays, high school English essays, and professional correspondence.

As an avid bookworm, I have enjoyed working with students for the past 8+ years to help strengthen their reading skills in comprehension, phonics, and fluency. I have worked with students in K-12 to help them strengthen their foundational skills to help them be successful readers for life. I enjoy working with students to build their confidence as readers and help them discover ways to enjoy reading in their everyday lives.

I have worked with students of all levels from elementary school to graduate school to help them find study skills that work for them. As someone who has ADHD, I am particularly passionate about working with students that have ADHD, as I believe a strong foundation in study skills can help you learn to use ADHD to your academic advantage.

A good grasp of vocabulary sets a student up for success in academics and life, which is why I am so passionate about working with students to improve their vocabularies. I have worked in education with students in K-12 and college for over 8 years to help them improve their vocabularies to add richness to their writing and help them become successful readers. I believe that one of the best ways to improve one's vocabulary is to read often, so I enjoy working with my students to help them find ways to integrate reading into their lives.

In my life, I have written many types of different documents from a graduate research dissertation, to a persuasive speech, to professional outreach documents. Excellent writing skills set students and adults up for success in academics, in life, and in their careers. As a writing tutor, I enjoy working with students to build their confidence in writing, increase their vocabulary, and help them master grammar and syntax. I am available to work with students on writing assignments, but am also experienced in working with students to prepare and fine-tune college application personal statements, dissertations, and scholarship application essays.
