I am a certified Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher for PK-6th grade. My teaching experience includes Public Schools, Private Christian Schools, In-Person tutoring, and Online Tutoring. Throughout my teaching career I have had the opportunity to work with students in general education classrooms, reading support services, and as an ESL teacher for non-English speaking students who were newcomers to the United States.
My goal as an educator is to guide my students to become confident, successful, enthusiastic learners. I accomplish this goal by using a variety of techniques to build upon my students' strengths and introducing them to new learning strategies that will carry over into each subject and grade as they move forward in their education.
I have taught from a variety of math programs, GO Math, Teaching Textbooks, Common Core, CGI, Saxon Math, among others. This experience allows me to cater my tutoring to the program that a child is learning from but also bring in strategies from other programs to best meet their learning style and needs.
Teaching reading and writing are a passion of mine. I have had so many students over the years tell me that they don't like to read but really they just haven't found the right books to capture their interest. I have also seen many students struggle with writing but once the process has been broken down for them into attainable chunks they see that they can become authors!
I have homeschooled my own child for 3rd grade, 4th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade. I screened and selected all of the curricula that we used and supplemented them with exciting projects and experiences. I have also taught in a homeschool co-op and tutored students from the group as well.
